Pijush Hazarika reviews development works in Jagiroad

Staff Reporter, Jagiroad: Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika, who oversees key departments including Information and Public Relations, Water Resources, and Social Justice, conducted a high-level review in Jagiroad to assess the progress of ongoing development projects and government welfare schemes in the region. Chairing a review meeting with the Deputy Commissioner of Morigaon, the Co-District Commissioner of Jagiroad, and senior departmental officials, Hazarika placed special emphasis on accelerating infrastructure development within the Jagiroad constituency. The discussions focused on public demands for improved roads, better healthcare facilities, and enhanced educational infrastructure. "The government is fully committed to the growth and well-being of the people in this region," Hazarika said. "We reviewed the progress of various projects and explored ways to expedite them so that the benefits of development reach every household." Earlier in the day, the Minister also addressed critical issues related to flood and erosion management. Speaking on the erosion-prone area of Dongra in Barpeta district, he noted that the situation had markedly improved following prompt intervention by the Water Resources Department. "Once in a highly alarming condition, Dongra is now stable," Hazarika said. Emergency flood-fighting measures, including the placement of flood-resistant materials and reinforcement of embankments, were promptly initiated after residents raised concerns about severe riverbank erosion. "Our government follows a proactive approach to river management. The focus is not just on temporary fixes, but on long-term solutions to erosion," the minister added. The visit reflects the government’s continued focus on responsive governance and the need for tangible progress in both rural and semi-urban constituencies.
