Staff Reporter, Tezpur: Minister for Water Resources, Information and Public Relations and Guardian Minister of Sonitpur district, Pijush Hazarika visited Sonitpur district and chaired a review meeting on Saturday at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office regarding the progress of various government welfare schemes. Minister Hazarika took stock of the progress of the schemes under implementation including Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam Abhijan 2.0, Orunodoi 3.0 and Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Abhijan.The Minister directed the officials to ensure vigilant monitoring of the public welfare schemes initiated by the Assam government under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma so as to achieve cent percent effective implementation of the schemes .Minister Hazarika also emphasised to ensure that only eligible beneficiaries can avail the benefits of these schemes. Among the attendees in the meeting were MLA of Tezpur Prithiraj Rabha, MLA of Barchala Ganesh Kumar Limbu, MLA of Rangapara Krishna Kamal Tanti, District Commissioner of Sonitpur Ankur Bharali and the officers from the various departments under Sonitpur district administration. Later, the Water Resources Minister visited the Borachuburi area in Da-Parbatia under Tezpur Assembly Constituency and inspected the severe flood and erosion caused by a new channel of the Brahmaputra river. The Minister also interacted with local residents and took stock of the overall situation during his visit to the area. He directed the departmental engineers to expedite anti-erosion work in the area and take steps to close the channel at the earliest. Notably, closing of this channel will make flood-free several areas under Tezpur Assembly Constituency along with the Tezpur Medical College & Hospital, ITBP and large parts of the Barchala constituency,
