Staff Reporter, Guwahati: In a major student-centric initiative, the Government of Assam has rolled out a financial support scheme for students preparing for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations — a pivotal moment in a student’s academic life. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that eligible HSLC candidates will receive ₹300 per month for a period of six months. The assistance, which will be directly transferred to students’ bank accounts, is aimed at helping them afford supplementary tuition or improve their nutrition as they gear up for the crucial exams. “This support is meant to give our students an extra push so they can focus better on their studies and perform well,” said the Chief Minister, reiterating his government’s commitment to education and youth empowerment. The move is part of the Assam government’s broader vision to promote equal academic opportunities and uplift students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of students across the state and reduce financial barriers to exam readiness.
