Anjan Baskota,Biswanath Chariali: The 2025 Panchayat Election will be held in three assembly constituencies in Biswanath district on May 2. The counters were temporarily set up by the Biswanath district administration in Biswanath, Behali and Gohpur district administrations and the presiding and polling officers collected the materials of their respective polling stations from 7 am today. The presiding and polling officers for four Zila Parishads and 24 Gaon Panchayats under Biswanath Assembly constituency have left for their destinations after collecting polling materials from the premises of the District Commissioner's office in Biswanath. Four Zonal Officers and 25 Sector Officers have been deployed in Biswanath constituency. The presiding and polling officers for four Zila Parishads and 21 Gaon Panchayats under Behali Assembly constituency have collected polling materials from the premises of the Behali Co-district Commissioner's Office and left for their destinations. Four Zonal Officers and 21 Sector Officers have been deployed in Behali constituency. Similarly, the presiding and polling officers for four Zila Parishads and 28 Gaon Panchayats under Gohpur Assembly constituency have collected polling materials from the Gohpur Co-district Commissioner's office and left for their destinations. Four Zonal Officers and 28 Sector Officers have been deployed in Gohpur constituency. A total of 558 presiding officers and 1674 first, second and third polling officers have been deployed in Biswanath and Behali assembly constituencies for the panchayat elections. 30 polling stations in Biswanath and 10 polling stations in Behali will be operated by women officers and employees. A total of 338 presiding officers and 1,014 first, second and third polling officers have been deployed in the Gohpur assembly constituency. In Gohpur, 31 polling stations will be managed by women officers and employees. Tomorrow, i;e on May 2, the polling will be held from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm and the district police forces have been deployed to maintain peace and order during the polling. Adequate security personnel have been deployed at the polling stations. The district administration has appointed six Executive Magistrates, two for each assembly constituency in the district, to ensure overall law and order during the polling period. 74 Sector Officers and 12 Civil Zonal Officers are active in both the police and civil sectors. Officers in charge of local police stations have also been directed to remain on alert at all times to deal with any security situation. This time, about 450 vehicles, both large and small, have been used in the three assembly constituencies of the district for election duty. Buses, travellers, minibuses, and other light vehicles are also in stock. The district administration asks all voters to turn up for peaceful voting in the district and seeks all sorts of cooperation from the general public.
