Staff Reporter, Guwahati: The high-voltage campaigning for the first phase of Assam’s panchayat elections came to an end on Wednesday, ahead of the polling scheduled for May 2. Voters across 14 districts of the state are set to cast their ballots in this crucial grassroots democratic exercise. The districts going to the polls in this phase include Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Majuli, Jorhat, Golaghat, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Cachar, Hailakandi, and Sribhumi. In a strong show of political mobilization, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led the campaign trail for the ruling NDA, alongside Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and BJP state president Dilip Saikia. The leaders addressed multiple rallies, highlighting development achievements and urging voters to support the alliance for continued progress in rural Assam. With campaigning now concluded, election authorities have geared up for smooth and peaceful polling across the participating districts.
