NH-36 stretch closed until May 15

News Desk, Kohima: The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, has issued a traffic advisory announcing restrictions on a section of National Highway-36 to facilitate the curing of newly laid concrete pavement. The affected stretch, from Km 165.600 to Km 165.925—beneath the Dimapur flyover, between Blue Hill Police Assistant Booth and the Flyover Y-Junction exit—will remain closed to all vehicular traffic until May 15, 2025. The closure covers both Dry Lean Concrete (DLC) and Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC) layers. From May 16 onwards, Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will be permitted to use the stretch, while Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will continue to be restricted until full curing is achieved. The move follows a directive from the Executive Engineer, PWD National Highway Division, Kohima, and aims to ensure the durability and longevity of the newly constructed road surface. Authorities have urged the public to cooperate and adhere to the advisory to prevent structural damage and ensure the long-term safety of the highway.
