Massive Rally in Dhubri, unveils welfare schemes

Selim SK, Dhubri: In a high-energy rally ahead of the second phase of the Panchayat elections, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a massive crowd at the historic Bir Chilarai Mela Ground in Golakganj, Dhubri district. The event, part of the BJP’s Vijay Sankalp Sammelan, drew thousands as the CM laid out new welfare promises and delivered a scathing attack on the Congress party. Dr. Sarma announced several key welfare measures, including subsidized sugar, pulses, and salt for ration card holders starting October 1. Domestic LPG cylinders will be available at ₹650, with Ujjwala beneficiaries receiving a ₹250 subsidy. Unemployed graduates are set to receive ₹2,500 per month for a year, while Class 10 pass students will get ₹300 monthly. Women in self-help groups will now receive ₹25,000, up from ₹10,000. Reaffirming his government’s commitment to grassroots development, Dr. Sarma declared the inclusion of 4,000 new beneficiaries under the Arunodoi scheme in Golakganj. The rally took a sharp turn as the CM warned against anti-national sentiments. “Anyone praising Pakistan while enjoying India's benefits will face severe consequences,” he said, instructing police to act firmly. Taking aim at Congress, Dr. Sarma accused its leaders of corruption and disconnect from the public. “Even basic jobs needed bribes during their rule,” he alleged, urging voters to reject Congress and support BJP-AGP candidates. He concluded with a call for unity and progress: “Only BJP and AGP can ensure a self-reliant, developed Assam.”
