Gossaigaon Youth Detained for Anti-National Posts

Staff Reporter, Gossaigaon: A young man from Assam's Gossaigaon subdivision was arrested late Saturday night for allegedly posting pro-Pakistan content on Facebook, raising alarms over potential anti-national activities being circulated through social media. The individual, identified as Rupchan Ali of Kursakati village, was taken into custody by officers from the Bhaoraguri Police Outpost after multiple posts surfaced online in which he reportedly expressed support for Pakistan. The posts quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention and sparking concern among local residents and authorities. Following the incident, Bhaoraguri police detained Ali and subsequently transferred him to Gossaigaon Police Station, where he was formally arrested. Officials confirmed that an investigation has been launched to determine the intent behind the posts and whether the accused has any connections with external groups or organizations. “We are treating this matter seriously, given the sensitive nature of the content,” a police official stated. “We are analyzing his digital footprint and interactions on social media to assess any further links or patterns.” The arrest has once again underscored the growing concern over the misuse of social media platforms to promote divisive or inflammatory content. Local authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution and report any suspicious online activity to law enforcement. As the investigation continues, police have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges depending on the findings.
