BTC Holds Historic Executive Council Meeting in Delhi

News Desk, New Delhi: For the first time in its history, the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) held its Executive Council meeting outside Assam, convening at the Bodoland Guest House in Kailash Colony, New Delhi. The meeting marked a significant step in expanding BTC’s national presence and influence. Addressing the media after the meeting, BTC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro announced several major initiatives aimed at inclusive development, cultural preservation, and infrastructure growth across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). A letter of gratitude will be sent to the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, Chief Ministers of Assam and Delhi, and the Mayor of Delhi MCD for supporting the installation of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma’s statue and naming a road in his honor. The BTC will allocate ₹25,000 monthly for the statue’s upkeep. BTC also announced partnerships with IIT Delhi to enhance healthcare services and new schemes for persons with disabilities. Under the 'Bodoland Green Mission', 420 organic centers will be set up at the Village Council Development Committee (VCDC) level. To foster unity, a multilingual word book will be published featuring all 26 BTR community languages, and a council-level workshop on ‘Sustainable Peace’ will be held. Plans to boost tourism include international-standard river rafting facilities on three rivers and ten new homestays. The third phase of BTC’s 100-day action plan will launch in June, alongside efforts to resolve land issues and expand football infrastructure. Preparations are also underway for the 3rd Duronto Cup Football Tournament and flood control rooms across 21 rivers.
