Aditya Ankur, Tezpur: In a significant boost to public healthcare, the Blood Component Separation Unit at Kanaklata Civil Hospital’s Blood Centre was inaugurated on Friday by Sonitpur District Commissioner Ankur Bharali. The event saw the presence of Dr. Hiranjan Saikia, Hospital Superintendent, and Dr. J. Bezbaruah, In-Charge of the Blood Centre, alongside officials from the Health Department, NHM, and various social organizations. With this advanced facility, the centre can now prepare critical blood components like PRBC, FFP, platelets, and cryoprecipitate, improving emergency and routine care for patients in need of transfusions. The inauguration witnessed active participation from groups including the Indian Red Cross Society, IMA Tezpur, Operation Rakt, and others. Volunteers from SSB, Salonibari also conducted a blood donation drive, highlighting community commitment to public health. The unit marks a vital step in enhancing blood management across the region.
