PM Modi flagged off Ten Vande Bharat Express trains

Satff Reporter, Guwahati, March 12: The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone of various developmental projects worth over Rs 1, 06,000 cr today. The development projects of today encompass multiple sectors that include railway infrastructure, connectivity and petrochemicals projects. For railways, about 6000 projects worth around Rs. 85,000 crores were dedicated. He also flagged off 10 new Vande Bharat Express trains across the nation among which the New Jalpaiguri - Patna Vande Bharat train is also included. The Prime Minister, while addressing the nation, said that Railways development is among the top priorities of the present government for driving the nation towards “Viksit Bharat”. The Prime Minister said that before 2014, 6 capitals of the Northeast did not have railway connectivity and there were more than 10,000 unmanned railway crossings, and only 35 percent of railway lines were electrified. He mentioned that, transformation of railways landscape, laying of railway tracks at a faster pace, redevelopment of more than 1300 railway stations spreading out across the nation, flagging off next-generation trains like Vande Bharat, NaMo Bharat along with Amrit Bharat Station Schemes unveils the modernization of railway infrastructure within the nation. Now, Vande Bharat Network is touching 250 districts of the country. The Prime Minister today inaugurated about 600 kilometres of freight corridors for speedy and uninterrupted movement of freight trains. He said that the country is moving towards 100 percent electrification thus reducing the dependency on fossil fuel power, reducing the cost & increasing the speed of passenger and freight transportation. The Prime Minister also said that, Indian Railways is a medium for becoming “Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Vocal for Local”, and that the products manufactured by the nation’s Vishwakarmas, handicrafts men and women self-help groups would now be sold on Railway stations under One Station One Product scheme under which 1500 stalls have already been opened up. The New Jalpaiguri- Patna-New Jalpaiguri (22233/22234) Vande Bharat Express that has been flagged off by Prime Minister Modi and will start its regular services from march 14 from both ends. The trains will run six days a week (except Tuesday) having stoppages at Kishanganj, Katihar, Naugachia, Khagaria Jn., Begusarai & Patna Sahib from both ends to reach at its destination. This new train service will reduce the journey time between New Jalpaiguri and Patna Jn. by more than one hour in comparison to the existing services. The Prime Minister also inaugurated 172 numbers of railway projects under the jurisdiction of N.F. Railway. These projects include 133 outlets of One Station One Product, 15 Rail coach restaurants, 04 Jan Ausadhi Kendras, 13 Goods sheds, 03 Double lines , 02 Goods Cargo Terminals under Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal policy and 01 provision of additional Pit Line. These development works which are being undertaken will provide an upgraded infrastructure to the Railways within the N.F. Railway zone. As a result, the tourism, employment sectors will escalate and the socio-economic facade of the region will get a huge boost – a release stated.
