AASU and other 30 ethnic organizations takes out torch light rally at Nagaon

Staff Reporter, Nagaon, March 12: Following the notification of implementation of CAA across the country on Monday last by Union Government, the district unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) along with other 30 ethnic organizations, intensified its protest against the implementation of CAA in the district since the late evening of Monday last. Hounded office bearers as well as other members from the students' organization went out last evening and burnt the photocopies of the act and its notification. Continuing its ongoing agitation against the act, the district unit of the organization this evening also took out a torch light rally from its district office at Nagaon Nehrubali. But the district police administration as well as other security personnel blocked all the agitators inside the AASU office with iron bericates for which the participants staged the protest at its doorstep itself. Hundreds of agitators participated in the stir today and shouted various slogans against the governments at the centre as well as in the state. During the agitation, the participants strongly criticized the BJP led NDA Government at the centre and Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma led state government in the state. The organization ensured it too that the ongoing agitation will continue until and unless the act is repealed. The participants said that the people of Assam will never accept the act at any cost as it will destroy the identity of the Assamese nation as well as the Assamese language in the days to come. It is pertinent to mention that the agitation has been finally abandoned by the students' organization after half an hour due to strict security arrangements of the district police administration.
