Police SI arrested while accepting bribe at Kampur

Bureau Report, Nagaon, September 4: A team from Vigilance and Anti Corruption, Guwahati arrested Sub inspector Anup Kakoti last night while accepting a bribe from a complainant at Kampur PS. SI Kakoti joined in Kampur PS as a second officer in charge recently. Sources claimed that the arrested police official demanded Rs 5000 from the complainant for proceeding a case in his favour. Meanwhile, the complainant approached Vigilance and Anti Corruption, Guwahati and lodged a complaint in this regard and officials concerned of the vigilance department laid a trap on Saturday night through which they got the breakthrough, sources added. Subsequently, the police sub inspector Anup Kakoti was arrested on spot while accepting Rs 4000 as a bribe from the complainant, sources said, adding further that the arrested SI was later brought to its headquarters in Guwahati for further investigation as well as further proceedings.
