Staff Reporter, Guwahati, September 4: Prominent folklorist and researcher Dr. Prabin Chandra Das passed away here on Saturday night. As per reports, Dr. Das after suffering from a brain stroke he was bed-ridden for a long time. Following the brain stroke, Das was admitted to a hospital in Guwahati's Khanapara, where he was being given treatment. However, he passed away last night at around 1.30 am. It is worth mentioning that he was a former professor at the department of folklore research at Gauhati University. Besides this, Das was also known for his writings and some of his famous works include 'Bon Birinar Sat', 'Boxontar Bauli Bukusat', 'Seuj Monor Din' and 'Xomaj Xahitya Xangskriti'. On September 2, eminent Assamese writer and educationist Dr Prafulla Mahanta too passed away in Guwahati after suffering from a serious ailment and was undergoing treatment in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for a long time.
