Cabinet Minister Atul Bora visits Assam Arunachal Border

Staff Reporter, Tinsukia, September 4: Cabinet Minister Atul Bora visits Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday for the joint visit of Regional Committee for Assam-Arunachal Pradesh Border issues.To resolve the long-standing border issue along the Assam-Arunachal border Atul Bora, Cabinet Minister, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Border Protection & Development, Implementation of Assam Accord, Govt. of Assam visited the Ranging kan village in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. A public meeting was organized for the joint visit by the Regional Committee for Assam-Arunachal Pradesh Border issues. The Regional Committee jointly visited the area for the first time after the Namsai Declaration was signed by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma, CM Assam and Pema Khandu, CM Arunachal Pradesh a few weeks ago. Atul Bora addressed the gathering and assured that the Government has decided to solve the border dispute with proper dialogue between the two states. The minister said that discussions with the representatives of the people are most crucial in achieving a peaceful consensus. He also added that the two states have always maintained brotherhood and harmony and that cannot be compromised under any condition.The Tinsukia district shares a long boundary with Arunachal Pradesh and there are 36 villages under Margherita Subdivision that are along the Assam-Arunachal Border but only 6 villages are disputed areas at present. Kamlung Mossang, Cabinet Minister, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh also applauded the ground visit of Atul Bora Saturday . The representatives of the bordering villages also voiced their problems at the meeting. Later, the Regional Committee held a meeting with the members to prepare the road map for further course of action. The meeting was attended by Tesam Pongte, Deputy Speaker, GoAP, Bhaskar Sharma, MLA, 124-Margherita LAC, Phoshum Khimhun and Laisam Simai, MLAs, GoAP, Anant Lal Gyani, Guardian Secretary, Tinsukia, Narsing Pawar, DC, Tinsukia, Arjun Mohan i/c, DC, Changlang and other officials from Tinsukia, Margherita and Changlang.
