Nagaon, July 13: Alleging wrong treatment to a patient by a physician, the family members, relatives and other neighbours of the victim patient hailing from Nagaon Gomariati village, went on a rampage and vandalised the hospital today. Meanwhile the irate mob staged a protest against the physician concerned at Nagaon Haiborgaon based GD Nursing Home and Research Center and demanded immediate arrest of the physician. Significantly, witnessing the anger of the protesters, the physician finally had to flee from the hospital, sources added. Sources claimed that the physician of the hospital Dr Gopal Roy conducted a surgery on a youth to remove his appendix a few days back as he was suffering from a pain in his stomach. But when he felt the same pain right after the surgery, the family of the patient was advised to admit him in Nagaon PB Civil Hospital and the family of the youth immediately admitted him to Nagaon BP Civil Hospital. Meanwhile the doctor concerned of the Nagaon Civil Hospital carried out various medical tests in the hospital, it was found that no surgery was done in GD Nursing Home and Research Center. The family members of the youth immediately contacted Dr Gopal Roy and asked why he misled them in this way. Dr Roy advised them again to conduct the operation to the youth and they immediately agreed to his proposal. Subsequently, Dr Roy carried out an operation in this regard at Nagaon GD Nursing Home and Research Center, Haiborgaon a fortnight ago. Following the operation, the health of the youth deteriorated sharply for which the family members of the patient shifted him to Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) where he was still undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit, sources said. When they came to know from the doctors of GMCH that he was struggling with life and death due to the wrong treatment initiated by Dr Roy, the family members, relatives as well as other neighbours of the patient went on a rampage this morning, sources added further. Interestingly, the physician Dr Roy confessed his fault and assured the victim's family to bear all medical expenses of the youth. But the family of the victim youth did not accept his offer and went on a rampage and staged a protest against the physician. Besides, demanding immediate arrest of the physician, they filed a case in Nagaon PS in this regard, sources said further.
