Allegedly holding fake PhDs: 70 summoned in Assam

Guwahati, July 19: Assam higher education directorate has summoned 70 individuals working as tutors, principals, teachers and librarians to check their credentials, after coming to know that some of them were allegedly holding fake PhDs. Director of higher education, Dharmakanta Mili, said the individuals who have been asked to appear before the directorate on July 19, have been working in various newly provincialised or government-aided colleges under fixed pay. A screening committee formed to scrutinize the matter. Prof Alak Kumar Buragohain, former VC, Dibrugarh University is the chairman of the committee. As per the TOI report, most of them obtained their PhDs from private universities and public-funded universities outside the state. Click on the link below to view the summoned 70 individuals list.
