Hojai,July 18: Lanka based Omprakash Pramila Devi Memorial Charitable Trust in the presence of august gatherings organised its annual award ceremony at the auditorium of The Lankeshwari Natya Mandir in Lanka on Sunday. Devojyoti Mukherjee, DIG, Vigilence and Anti-Corruption, Assam, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest,Dr. Phatik Tamuli, Principal, Lanka Mahavidyalaya, Manab Jyoti Nath, ADC, Hojai, Tapan Das, Treasurer of Hockey Federation of India and Assam Olympic Association, Rabindra Nath Sharma, Retd. Deputy Inspector of Schools, Dr. Savita Basudeva, former HoD of department of Mathematics, Lumding College and Sudeshna Bhattacharya, HoD, department of Sanskrit, Guwahati University attended the function as Guest of Honour. All the distinguished guests highly appreciated the efforts of the trust and motivated the students. During the event, all advisors of the trust namely Subash Basudeva, Hari Shankar Tibrewalla, Bharat Tamuli Phookan and Toseswar Tamuli Phookan were also present. This year Om Prakash Pramila Devi Memorial Charitable Trust felicitated and honoured many diginataries for their enormous contribution for the society and students excelling in their respective field. Notably, Krishna Kumar Singh of Jugijan was honoured on the occasion for his selfless lifelong contribution in the area of preservation of monuments of Archeological importance.Dr. Indra Mohan Sharma of Lanka was honoured on the occasion for his selfless lifelong service to the people of Lanka and nearby areas as a Medical practioner. The Omprakash Agarwalla Memorial Excellence Award was given to Mayank Pandey of Hojai for securing highest marks in HSLC exams (amongst the boys) this year in Hojai district, while the Pramila Devi Memorial Excellence Award was won byHimadri Borah of Hojai, for securing highest marks amongst the girls. Parents of both the awardees were also felicitated.Borim Rongpi, son of Ransing Rongpi and Kaseng Timungpi, lost both his hands in a tragic accident at the age of seven. But he never accepted defeat and using his feet for writing, he passed his HSLC exams in 2014 securing 53% marks. Then onwards, in 2016, he passed HS Examinations also with 54%. Now he is studing Political Science in the Lanka Udali Sonia Bibi Choudhury College . He is a living example of Dream, Dedication and Determination. Joy Babu Singha, Retd, teacher was honoured for his selfless services and for creating awareness towards Environment protection.Hasshita Hiya, was honoured for her contribution in Literature and Translation. Soniya Rongpipi, resident of Kathaltali, Nandapur Chariali, district Hojai, was honoured for being selected to participate in the Indo Thai International Futsal Cup 2022 to be held from 5th to 8th August 2022 at Bangkok, Thailand.Phani Bhusan Chakravorty, a resident of Lumding town was honoured as he is going to participate in the 9th World Strength Lifting & Incline Bench Press Champeionship 2022 to be held to be held from 5th to 10th September 2022 at Kyrgyzstan. Chakravorty is a constant performer and this Trust has provided him with financial assistance in the year 2017 to go to Bali, Indonesia and in 2018 to go to Colombo, Lanka.

On both occasions he came with Gold Medals. Mridu Pawan Kalita of Kheroni was honoured for securing 3th Rank in the HSLC 2022 examination in Assam.Shafique Ahmed of Lanka was honoured for securing the 1st Rank in MS General Surgery, in Assam Medical College, his state rank is 2nd in MS General Surgery 2022 in Assam.Sudipta Debnath of Hojai was honoured for securing the 3rd Rank in Higher Secondry Examinations 2022 in the state of Assam. Shohid Ahmed Khandakar of Hojai was honoured for securing 6th Rank (Arts) in Higher Secondary Examinations 2022 in the state of Assam. Ankita Dey of Lanka was honoured for securing 10th Rank in the HSLC 2020 examination in Assam. Trust also honoured Subhasish Paul, Kapil Bora, Sumit Paul, Sujit Debnath, Diwakar Bhattacharya, Brojen Biswas, Ramakanta Das and Sujit Paul, all volunteers on the occasions as 'CORONA WARRIORS' for extending tireless service in extreme conditions during lockdown in the Model Vaccination Centre run by the Trust The event was anchored by Sharmistha Borah. "This is a very small step by our family in the memory of Papa and Mummy and we are overwhelmed by the appreciation and response we received by all the leading citizens of the area, academic fraternity, VIP's as well as the people in general.
