IndianOil ensured uninterrupted supply in flood hit Assam

STAFF REPORTER, Guwahati, June 28: Silchar, the fledgling business center in South Assam, witnessed the second spell of floods within a month. While Silchar is the worst hit, 32 out of 35 Districts of Assam have been affected. Rail link to Silchar had been cut off for more than a month. Landslides further severed connectivity of Silchar by road. Public services including electricity and mobile connectivity got disrupted and central agencies like NDRF, Army & Air force had to be deployed. IndianOil rose magnificently to the occasion and ensured an uninterrupted supply of LPG and Petrol/Diesel in affected areas. Our newly commissioned Monobond Depot near Silchar proved to be a saviour and ensured seamless relief operation by local administration apart from fulfilling the local fuel demand. Retail Outlets were instructed to prioritize supply of Diesel to Mobile Tower Operators to keep the communication channels alive in the face of continuous power cuts. Our dealers and distributor network rolled up their sleeves and made food & water available to stranded drivers/commuters. Similarly, LPG door delivery continued through boats. Boats replaced delivery vans. This resulted in achieving an enviable LPG Cylinder backlog in Assam of only 1.03 days and just over 1.7 days in the three more severely affected districts around Silchar. During this crisis situation, the efforts of the entire team of IndianOil, primarily our frontline workers comprising the location employees, contract workers, TT crew, security guards, LPG delivery boys and other stakeholders braved the unprecedented scenario and ensured uninterrupted supplies of essential petroleum products in the region.
