Guwahati: In a major development in the ongoing investigation into the death of Assam’s iconic singer-composer Zubeen Garg, the viscera report is set to be received by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and subsequently handed over to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday morning.
According to official sources, the forensic report, prepared at a premier laboratory in New Delhi, will provide crucial insights into the exact cause of the artist’s death, which has been under intense scrutiny by the Crime Investigation Department (CID). The findings from the viscera analysis are expected to play a decisive role in determining whether Garg’s death was natural or influenced by external factors.
Earlier, Chief Minister Sarma had assured that the charge sheet in the case would be filed within three months, reiterating the government’s commitment to a transparent and time-bound investigation.
With the receipt of the viscera report, investigators are now expected to re-examine existing evidence and witness statements, which could significantly influence the direction of the CID probe.
The report is anticipated to shed light on several lingering questions surrounding the untimely demise of one of Assam’s most celebrated and beloved cultural figures, whose passing has left a deep void in the state’s music and arts fraternity.
