Bengmora Matibor Borsenapati Memorial Football Cup Concludes

Staff Reporter, Tinsukia: The Bengmora Matibor Borsenapati Memorial Invitational Prize Money Football Cup 2025 concluded successfully at the Natun Rongagara Playground, under the supervision of the Tinsukia District Sports Association. The week-long tournament was organized by the Greater Natun Rongagara Regional Committee of the All Assam Matak Youth and Students’ Union (AAMYSU), with valuable support from Oil India Limited, Duliajan. The final match, originally scheduled for September 21, had been postponed as a mark of respect following the sudden demise of Assam’s iconic singer Zubeen Garg on September 19. The rescheduled final took place on Friday and witnessed an atmosphere of excitement, emotion, and sporting camaraderie. A total of eight prominent football clubs from across Tinsukia district participated in the tournament. In the much-anticipated final, Motapung FC triumphed over Barekuri FC with a convincing 2–0 victory. Dipu Kumar Baruah netted both goals for Motapung FC in the 29th and 33rd minutes, securing the championship title for his team. The match was officiated by Inut Chaurak as referee, assisted by Arup Chutia and Rocky Chaurak, while Jayanta Chaurak served as the fourth official. Before kick-off, players, officials, and spectators paid a heartfelt tribute to Zubeen Garg by lighting lamps before his portrait, followed by a soulful chorus performance by local schoolgirls. 

The final match was inaugurated by Swarup Gohain, Central General Secretary of AAMYSU. The champions, Motapung FC, received a trophy, medals, and ₹20,001 in cash, while the runners-up, Barekuri FC, were presented with a trophy, medals, and ₹15,001. Individual awards were also presented to recognize exceptional performances:
