Staff Reporter, Guwahati: The Public Works (Roads) Department (PWRD), Government of Assam, has announced that the Chandmari Flyover in Guwahati will remain closed for three nights next week to carry out important bearing replacement and maintenance work.

As per an official notification from the Executive Engineer of the New Guwahati Territorial Road Division, the flyover stretch between Guwahati Commerce College point and Chandmari point will be shut to all traffic from 10 PM to 6 AM on October 13, 15, and 17.

During the closure, vehicles will be diverted through alternative routes, including Rajgarh–Pub Sarania Road, MT Road–Bamunimaidan Railway Colony Road, Mathgaria–Noonmati Road, and Krishnagar–Milanpur Road. The department has urged commuters to plan their journeys in advance and follow the traffic advisories to avoid inconvenience.

The notification has been shared with the Chief Engineer (PWD Roads), the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro, and the DCP (Traffic), Guwahati to ensure smooth coordination and traffic control.

Officials said the maintenance work is essential to ensure the safety and longevity of the Chandmari Flyover—one of the city’s busiest road links. The PWRD assured that every effort will be made to complete the work on schedule and minimize disruption for commuters.
