Karbi Anglong poised to shine as Assam’s leading tourism hub

Pankaj Kr. Chauhan, West Karbi Anglong: In a significant push to boost tourism and rural development, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, senior Cabinet Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD), Tourism, Law and Justice, and General Administration Department (GAD), Government of Assam, chaired a review meeting today at Kazir Ronghangpi Guest House, Taralangso, Diphu. The meeting focused on elevating Karbi Anglong as a leading tourist destination, not only within Assam but across India. Joined by Raju Tisso, Chairman of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), and Executive Members Ritesh Enghi, Madhuram Lekthe, Madhurjya Dhekial Phukan, and Tiluttoma Hasnu, the minister reviewed the progress of key departments, including Tourism, Panchayat and Rural Development, and the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission. The discussions underscored the Assam Government’s vision to harness Karbi Anglong’s natural beauty and cultural heritage to establish it as a premier tourist hub. The meeting was attended by the District Commissioner of Karbi Anglong, along with KAAC officials, district development officers, and other departmental representatives. The collaborative effort highlighted the government’s commitment to sustainable development and tourism-driven economic growth in the region. The Assam Government aims to implement strategic initiatives in the coming days to enhance infrastructure, promote eco-tourism, and showcase Karbi Anglong’s unique landscapes and cultural richness to attract visitors from across the country.
