Staff Reporter, Guwahati: In a major step towards advancing preventive healthcare for women, Apollo Cancer Centres (ACCs) and Apollo Excelcare Hospital, Boragaon, Guwahati, jointly launched End-O Check, an early detection program focused on gynaecological cancers. Targeted at women aged 45 and above, the initiative aims to identify endometrial and ovarian cancers at treatable stages. At the launch event, leading medical professionals including Dr. Kiran Kamalasanan (Surgical Oncology), Dr. Adil Hassan (Medical Oncology), Dr. Judy Bordoloi and Dr. Bhuvaneshwari Deka (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) underscored the critical importance of regular screening. They highlighted that ovarian cancer—often called the “silent killer”—is typically diagnosed around the age of 63, but early detection can improve five-year survival rates to over 90%. Discussing endometrial cancer, the team noted that although symptoms like abnormal bleeding are common early indicators, many women delay seeking medical attention, leading to late-stage diagnoses. Dr. Seema Konwar, Medical Superintendent, stated, “End-O Check is not just a screening program—it’s a movement towards empowering women with awareness and access.” CEO Thaomunglung Chukrungfa called the initiative a landmark moment in Apollo’s mission to promote preventive oncology and save lives through early intervention.
