Hareswar Bora, Nagaon: Zonal Research Station, Shillongani, Nagaon of Assam Agricultural University organized a 'seed growers meet' at its office premises on Thursday last here. The programme was organized under All India Co-ordinated Seed (crops )Research Project of Assam Agricultural University and Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan under Tribal Sub Plan. Madhuram Patiri, Director of Assam Seed and Organic Certification Agency attended the event as the chief guest. The event was initiated with a massive plantation drive at the neighbouring areas of AAU, Zonal Research Station's office premises. Dr Hiranya Kr Borah, Chief Scientist of Zonal Research Station, Shillongani, Nagaon welcomed the guests and other attendees during the event while Dr Mrinal Saikia, Associate Director of Research (Agriculture) exchanged the views with the seed growers of the district and spoke on importance and other issues related to quality seeds production. Bhabani Nath, Joint Director of Agriculture, Nikhil Narayan Baruah, District Agriculture Officer, Nagaon, also attended the event and spoke on the issues related to quality seeds production. Over hundred seed growers participated in the event. During the event an agri based exhibition was also ceremonially inaugurated by the chief guest Madhuram Patiri where several dozens of NGOs, farmers groups participated. Besides, during the event, the officials of the research station also distributed seeds and other instruments among the seed growers. The event came to an end with a vote of thanks by Niranjan Deka, Principal Scientist of Zonal Research Station, Shillongani.
