Staff Reporter, Bajali: In a proud moment for BHB College, student Fungbili Basumatary has been selected among 17 promising under-19 footballers by the Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) for advanced training at Marbella FC in Spain. The players were chosen following a rigorous final-phase selection camp held at the SAI Training Ground in Guwahati. The initiative is part of GSA’s ambitious talent hunt linked with the prestigious Bordoloi Trophy, aimed at nurturing grassroots footballers across Assam. To offer international exposure and top-tier training, GSA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with football management group Best of You. Under this agreement, the selected players will undergo a 14-day high-performance training programme at Marbella FC, renowned for its professional coaching ecosystem. GSA Secretary Devajit Saikia stated that the players are expected to leave for Spain in the third week of July. The total cost of the training initiative is estimated at Rs 93 lakh, which GSA has pledged to fully sponsor in its commitment to boosting the careers of young footballers. This opportunity marks a significant milestone for the selected players, offering them a global platform to sharpen their skills and represent Assam on an international stage.
