Railway Worker Dead, Three Injured in Bihar Train-Trolley Collision

Semapur: A tragic accident unfolded on Friday in Bihar’s Sonpur Rail Division when the 15910 Lalgarh–Dibrugarh Awadh Assam Express collided with an engineering trolley near Semapur station, resulting in the death of a railway worker and injuries to three others. The incident occurred at approximately 1 PM while the express train was en route to Katihar. According to Saraswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway, the engineering trolley was mistakenly on the same track as the oncoming express train, leading to a fatal collision. "One railway worker has lost his life and three others have been injured in the incident. The injured were quickly moved to the nearest hospital for medical attention," said Chandra. Train services were briefly disrupted following the accident, with the Awadh Assam Express halted at the site. However, it resumed its journey after a 30-minute delay, once the track was cleared by railway personnel. Authorities have initiated a probe to ascertain how the engineering trolley remained on an active track. "An investigation is underway to understand the circumstances leading to this serious lapse in safety protocol," Chandra added. The East Central Railway has extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased worker and assured that stringent corrective measures will be put in place to prevent such incidents in the future.
