Staff Reporter, North Lakhimpur: The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was marked with a large gathering at the NL College (Autonomous) Auditorium today. The event brought together officials including the ADC (Social Welfare), Additional SP (Intelligence & Security), Inspector of Schools, Drug Inspector, Superintendent of Excise, DAO, Joint Director of Health Services, and the Principal and Vice Principal of the college. Over 1200 participants attended, comprising teachers, students from schools, colleges and universities, CDPOs, Anganwadi Workers, Jeevika Sakhis, VDPs, GP Secretaries, and Mothers’ Groups from Joyhing, Koilamari, and Harmutty Tea Estates. Highlights of the event included a signature campaign, a short play, screening of awareness films, and prize distribution for an essay competition. The program, coordinated by the District Social Welfare Office, aimed to raise awareness and encourage community participation in combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
