MES Hosts 2nd All Assam Inter-School Yogasana Championship

Staff Reporter, Guwahati: Modern English School, Kahilipara, Guwahati, successfully hosted the 2nd All Assam Inter-School Yogasana Championship 2025, uniting over 120 young yoga enthusiasts from across the state in a spirited display of flexibility, focus, and discipline. Organised by the Modern School of Languages, Sports, and Performing Arts, the event drew participation from more than 20 schools across Assam. Students competed in the Traditional Yoga category, judged by an esteemed panel from Yogasana Bharat and the Universal Yoga Sports Federation, including Suresh Poddar, Dipankar Nath, Suranjan Debnath, and others. Participants were assessed on performance, stability, intensity, expression, and overall presentation. The competition was divided into sub-junior and junior categories across age groups 5 to 19 years. Among the winners, Sabir Rahman (Aastha Fitness Academy) and Rajashree Purakasta (Namah Yog Studio) topped the Sub-Junior Group A (5–8 years), while Bornil Pratim Sharma and Sanggy Das stood out in Junior Group A (13–15 years). In the senior-most Junior Group B (16–19 years), Harjeet Singh (South Point School) and Kuhi Deka (St. Mary’s Senior Secondary) claimed the first positions in their respective categories. Principal Jonali Das remarked, “It is an honour to host this prestigious event. Yogasana fosters not just physical health, but also mental discipline and emotional strength.” Yoga Coach Dr. Saiful Islam added, “Yoga is a way of life. Events like these sow the seeds of mindfulness and balance in our youth.” The championship concluded with a grand prize distribution ceremony, where winners were awarded trophies and certificates. The event highlighted Assam’s growing commitment to nurturing wellness and holistic education among students.
