A Correspondent, Itanagar: In a major boost to sports infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated a state-of-the-art multi-purpose sports hall in Kamle district today. The project, funded by the Central government at a cost of ₹8 crore, aims to foster grassroots-level sports development in the remote region. Speaking at the inauguration, Mandaviya reaffirmed the government’s dedication to promoting inclusive sports growth across the country, particularly in underserved and far-flung areas like Arunachal Pradesh. “Arunachal has immense sporting potential. Through facilities like these, we aim to empower youth to excel and contribute to nation-building,” he stated. The newly inaugurated hall is equipped with modern training amenities and will support a wide range of indoor sports such as boxing, badminton, judo, wushu, karate, taekwondo, weightlifting, table tennis, and volleyball. Designed to nurture talent from the region, the facility is expected to help athletes train professionally and compete at both national and international levels. During his visit, Mandaviya also engaged with local youth and sportspersons, encouraging them to make the best use of the infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of integrating fitness, sports, and discipline into everyday life for holistic development. Arunachal Pradesh state ministers Kento Jini and Nyato Dukam were also present at the event, which marked a significant step in strengthening the region’s sports ecosystem and unlocking opportunities for aspiring athletes.
