Staff Reporter, Guwahati: Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Dr. Numal Momin, hailed the ongoing visit of Japanese Speaker Fukushiro Nukaga and his delegation as a landmark moment for international cooperation and regional development in the Northeast. Speaking at a three-day consultative event attended by governors and dignitaries, Dr. Momin emphasized that the visit would play a key role in deepening India-Japan relations, particularly in Assam and the broader Northeastern region. “This is not just a diplomatic visit—it’s a symbol of cultural connection and future cooperation,” Dr. Momin remarked, underlining the significance of the Japanese delegation’s presence. During their stay, the Japanese delegates are scheduled to meet with Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. The discussions are expected to cover vital areas such as human resource development, industrial investment, and bilateral business collaborations. Dr. Momin also lauded the state government’s Advantage Assam initiative, calling it a transformative effort that has placed Assam on the global investment map. “Thanks to the Chief Minister’s visionary leadership, Assam is on track to become one of India’s top five developed states,” he said. He further highlighted the deep-rooted cultural similarities between Japan and Assam’s indigenous communities, expressing optimism that such high-level visits would pave the way for stronger economic ties and cultural exchange. The visit is seen as a positive stride toward forging global partnerships that support Assam’s development ambitions.
