Tripura Receives ₹14.96 Crore Boost for Light House Project Completion

News Desk, Agartala: Tripura has received a Central grant of ₹14.96 crore to expedite the completion of the Light House Project, a flagship housing initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). The Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority (TUDA) expressed optimism that the long-pending project would now be completed soon. A TUDA official stated, “The Light House Project aims to provide permanent housing for economically weaker and low-income families across Tripura.” Despite setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, geographic challenges, and flooding in 2023, the state government has remained committed to the project’s timely completion. The official noted that Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha held multiple discussions with the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, stressing the project's importance for urban housing in Tripura. The recent Central assistance is expected to significantly accelerate construction progress, ensuring that eligible families receive secure and dignified housing at the earliest. The Light House Project is part of a national initiative to showcase innovative and sustainable housing technologies while addressing the housing needs of underserved urban populations.
