Aditya Ankur, Tezpur: A startling incident occurred at the Sonitpur Police Reserve on Wednesday evening when a constable reportedly opened fire with his service rifle while on duty. According to police sources, the incident took place around 6:30 PM when Lnk Bijoy Bora, who was on guard duty, fired from his service weapon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Upon receiving the report, authorities took immediate action. Lnk Bora was relieved of his duties, medically examined, and subsequently placed under suspension. Additionally, the guard commander on duty at the time was also suspended pending further investigation. An official enquiry has been initiated to determine the circumstances that led to the firing and to assess any potential lapses in protocol. Police officials have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to maintain discipline and ensure the safety of personnel within the reserve premises.
