Hareswar Bora, Nagaon: The renovated Haibargaon Railway Station under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in Nagaon district was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Union Minister of State Pabitra Margherita, and other dignitaries. The programme was initiated with a welcome address by Setan Kr Srivastava, General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway. While addressing the occasion here at Nagaon, Governor Acharya expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the Union Railway Minister for upgrading railway stations across the country to world-class standards. He highlighted that the development of the Haibargaon Railway Station would significantly contribute to the growth of tourism and commerce in Nagaon district. Union Minister of State, Pabitra Margherita thanked Prime Minister Modi on behalf of the people of the Northeast for the rapid development of railway infrastructure in the region. State Cabinet Minister as well as local MLA of Kaliabor assembly constituency, Keshab Mahanta also attended the event and in his short speech, he mentioned that 50 more railway stations in the state are being upgraded, which are expected to be completed within the next year. The renovated Haibargaon Railway Station features modern amenities, including a roof plaza, improved parking facilities, spacious circulation areas, high-quality waiting rooms, clean and modern toilets, and CCTV cameras with artificial intelligence technology for passenger safety. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including former Union Railway Minister of State Rajen Gohain, Nagaland MP S Jamir, local MLAs Rupak Sarma, Shashi Kanta Das, Setan Kr Srivastava, General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway, Samir Lohani, GM Lumding Railway Division, DC, Nagaon Narendra Kr Shah. The ceremony was marked by cultural performances and a large gathering of local people.
