News Desk, New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan to brief her on the Indian armed forces’ precision missile strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor’ targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The strikes came two weeks after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. During the early morning operation, nine strategic targets were destroyed, including the bases and training camps of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Muridke. “Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and briefed her about Operation Sindoor,” read a post from the President’s office on X, accompanied by pictures of the meeting. Following the briefing, PM Modi chaired a meeting of the Union Cabinet to review the operation and assess the evolving security situation. Official sources confirmed that the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) is also scheduled to convene later in the day to deliberate on the impact of the strikes and pass a resolution recognising the operation. Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister was updated on the developments by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. The strikes were reportedly executed under full operational freedom granted by PM Modi, who had empowered the armed forces to determine the nature, timing, and scale of the response. The coordinated response underlines the government's firm stance against cross-border terrorism and its commitment to ensuring national security.
