Governor Acharya interacts with IAS probationers of 2024 Batch

 



Staff Reporter, Guwahati: Assam Governor, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, today held an interactive meeting with six IAS probationers of the 2024 batch from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre at Raj Bhavan, today. Congratulating the young officers, the Governor attributed their success not only to their personal achievement, but also to the beginning of a significant and lifelong commitment to public service. Describing the probationary period as a critical phase in a civil servant's life, the Governor said, “It is during this time the foundation of administrative ethics, vision, and leadership is laid. This is a transformative phase where the values, and approach to governance takes shape.” Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of “Reform, Perform, Transform,” the Governor urged the officers to emerge as change-makers who bring efficiency, integrity, and compassion into the system. He encouraged them to be active participants in India’s ongoing journey of transformation through good governance and innovative thinking. Highlighting the importance of empathy in public administration, Shri Acharya stated, “True leadership is rooted in sensitivity and the feeling of belongingness. An officer earns people’s trust not merely through authority, but through compassion, humility, and meaningful engagement.” The interaction programme was attended by Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram, OSD to the Governor Prof. Bechan Lal, Joint Director of Assam Administrative Staff College,  Dimple Baruah; and senior officials of Raj Bhavan.
