Assam soldier Mitu Kalita goes missing in Sikkim

Staff Reporter, Bajali, October 5: Around 49 people have been reported missing and several vehicles have submerged after a sudden glacial lake outburst took place on Wednesday over Lhonak Lake in North Sikkim led to a flash flood in the Teesta River in Lachen valley. At least 23 Army personnel went missing on Wednesday morning due to the incident. Mitu Kalita, a soldier of the Indian Army from Anandabazar in Baksa also went missing after the cloudburst occurred. As per the information, Mitu works in Alipurduar and he went to Sikkim on departmental orders. He was serving in the technical department of the Indian Army. His family is continuously trying to connect with him but have yet to receive any information about him. Further details awaited.
