3 Coal mafias arrested in connection with Ledu incident

Staff Reporter, Margherita, September 23: After the horrific incident at an illegal coal mine in Malu village on the Assam-Arunachal border under Ledu police station in Tinsukia district, the police administration seems to be in a hurry.One after the other coal mafia involved in the incident has fallen into the trap of the police.The police arrested two key associates of David Naga, the owner of the illegal coal mine, from Jairampur in Arunachal Pradesh.Led by Margherita Sub-Divisional Police Officer Hemanta Kumar Boro, Ledu Police In-charge Jyotish Phukan and Margherita Police Station In-charge Someshwar Konwar, the police conducted a raid and arrested two associates of David Naga.The two arrested coal mafias were involved in the illegal coal mining of David Naga.The two arrested coal mafias are Shafiqul Islam and Hazrat Osman Ghani respectively. On the other hand, two JCB police, who used the bodies of the three labourers to dig a pit, were seized from hiding them in the dense jungle.The driver of a JCB was also detained by the police team.But even now, the police have not been able to arrest the main culprit David Naga in connection with the incident.But after this promptness of the police against the illegal coal mafia, an atmosphere of panic has prevailed among the illegal coal traders in Margherita and its suburbs.Labourers from outside the district have already left Ledu and returned to their homes.It is to be noted that the police have already arrested eight persons involved in the incident and sent to jail.
