Tipong Collierie's senseless actions pose a serious threat to public health

Bikash Barua Tinsukia, August 21 :The fact that the coal India authorities are not responsible towards the public is proved once again.It is as if the sole purpose of the Coal India authority is to make a profit only to make a profit of business.Tipong Colliery under the North East Coalfield Margherita is an irresponsible act posing a serious threat to public health as well as livelihoods.The chemical-containing water released from the colliery is released by the pump on the chest of the Tipong river.As a result, many people in the area are suffering from various incurable diseases including cancer, skin diseases. This kind of activity that can lead to public health has now raised the eyebrows of the local conscious public.Locals people have been forced to use water from the nearby Tipong river as the Coal India authorities have stopped supplying water to locals for the past several months on the pretext that the colony has been shut down.But Coal India has given up on using toxic water, many people in the region are now suffering from various incurable diseases.Local people and several organisations have urged to take a well-planned step in this regard at the earliest after realising the importance of the issue.Otherwise, the SMSS will be forced to launch a democratic movement against the north-eastern coalfields, Margherita.
