ATASU Demands Angoorlata Deka's Apology in Lakhimpur

Staff Reporter, North Lakhimpur, August 4: All Tai Ahom Students' Union (ATASU) Lakhimpur district committee staged two-hour sit-in-stir protest in front of Lakhimpur DC's office in North Lakhimpur today against the slogan of BJP women's wing state president Angoorlata Deka who gave the slogan "Ahom race Murdabad" along with other slogans in a protest rally against the Congress party recently. The officials and members of ATASU rent the air by shouting slogans such as "BJP Murdabad, Angoorlata Deka go back and BJP go back" in the venue of protest. The protesters also submitted a memorandum to the CM of Assam through the Lakhimpur DC in order to take proper investigation regarding the indignity made by Angoorlata Deka towards the Ahom race, and also arrest the culprit at earliest. The protest will be going on until the culprit will not be punished, stated in the memorandum. ATASU state committee vice-president Achyut Borgohain and organizing secretary Mridul Konwar, ATASU Lakhimpur district committee president Pradip Gogoi, working president Dhrubabrat Gogoi and secretary Tankeswar Gogoi participated in today's protest, besides a number of ATASU members.
