Green Valley Forest & Wildlife Protection Society conducted plantation drive

STAFF REPORTER, Udalguri, July 17: Elephant-Human conflict in the Indo-Bhutan border under Udalguri district is increasing day by day. From the forest area, different animals, mainly elephants, are coming to the population area for decreasing food and shelter for searching for the same. To decrease the elephant-human conflicts, the nature lover society of Udalguri district Green Valley Forest & Wildlife Protection Society by providing all the animals mainly to the elephants food and shelter, conducting planting of tora trees and various seedlings in the forest. To protect forest and wildlife the mentioned nature lover society conducted a planting program of tora trees and seedlings in the forest of Segunbari near SSB camp under Udalguri district. Green Valley Forest & Wildlife Protection Society had already planted ten thousand tora trees at Khalingduar Reserved Forest under Dhansiri Divisional Forest Office. Whereas, today the society planted five thousand tora trees and around five hundred seedlings at Segunbari area under Khalingduar Reserved Forest. The plantation program was attended by BOP Commander Ganesh Rawat, Asst BOP Commander Jonah Chandra Saikia, forest Beat officer Lalit Boro, forest staff and local villagers. Workers of Green Valley Forest & Wildlife Protection Society, Jayanta Bhera Narzary and Mithu Sarkar said that the program was successful in the collaboration of some nature lovers. On the other hand, the society appealed to all the people to protect forest and wildlife at their level.
