Declare Assam flood as national disaster: CPI(M)

STAFF REPORTER. Hojai, July 13: Hojai District Unit of CPI(M) through a memorandum to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma raised various demands for the flood affected people. The memorandum was handed over to the Deputy Commissioner of Hojai to be forwarded to CM. Before the submission of memo, despite scorching sun hundreds of volunteers of CPI(M) Hojai for nearly two hours held a demonstration raising voice against BJP government at district headquarter Sankardev Nagar in Hojai on Wednesday. They shouted slogans: BJP murdabad, Assam Sarkar hai hai,declare Assam flood and erosion as national disaster;etc. During the demonstration, CPI(M) leader Jugaeswar Das slammed the BJP government for their anti-people policies.Das demanded to declare Assam flood and erosion as National Disaster. He further demanded to provide 3 lakhs each to the flood affected families whose house is totally damaged, 1 lakh each to partially damaged ones, 25 thousand to those whose fishery is damaged. The volunteers further raised many demands for the flood affected people and requested the government to begin the repairs work in deluge affected areas at the earliest.
