PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana Launched at ICAR-ATARI

Staff Reporter, Guwahati: The live telecast of the launching programme of the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY) was successfully organized at ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI, Guwahati, on October 11. Alongside this flagship initiative, the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses and the National Mission on Natural Farming were also launched nationwide. The programmes were simultaneously held across all Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) under Zone VI, covering Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim.

The PM-DDKY aims to transform 100 low-performing agricultural districts by boosting productivity, promoting crop diversification, improving irrigation and storage, and ensuring better access to institutional credit — all aimed at strengthening farmers’ income and rural livelihoods.

The Guwahati event was inaugurated by Bhabesh Kalita, MLA of Rangia, who attended as Chief Guest. In his address, he lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for agricultural transformation and urged farmers of the Northeast to adopt self-reliant and diversified farming practices. He emphasized the need for farmer-centric schemes and institutional support. Krishna Kanta Bora, Secretary of Bhartiya Kisan Sangh, Assam, attended as Guest of Honour, highlighting the importance of awareness and education to help farmers utilize government schemes effectively.
