A Correspondent, Hojai: With the admission of undergraduate students this year, the Yogijan Campus of Rabindranath Tagore University officially commenced its journey, marking a significant milestone for higher education in the region. The inaugural ceremony, held last Friday, was graced by Hojai MLA Ramkrishna Ghosh, University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Manabendra Dutta Choudhury, and Dr. Nirmal Kumar Sarkar of the Yogijan Government Model Degree College Demand Committee. The event began with floral tributes to Goddess Saraswati and Rabindranath Tagore, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Local artists presented a devotional Saraswati Vandana and the opening song “Ananda Loke Mangala Loke,” adding cultural charm to the occasion. In his address, MLA Ghosh highlighted the significance of the new campus in fulfilling the educational aspirations of students under the National Education Policy 2020. He thanked the Chief Minister, Education Minister, and all stakeholders for their support in establishing the campus. Vice Chancellor Dr. Dutta Choudhury emphasized the commitment to maintaining academic excellence across all campuses and expressed gratitude to those involved in the initiative. Dr. Sarkar, representing the demand committee, spoke of the long-standing struggle for a higher educational institution in Yogijan and praised the campus as a gift to the economically backward region. Several dignitaries and faculty members were present during the event, which also included the submission of community welfare memorandums and an induction programme for new students.
