Selim SK, Dhubri: Police crack down on illegal cattle smuggling in Gauripur! In a major operation, 30 cattle were seized along with the vehicle in Gauripur. Four suppliers have been arrested. Illegal transportation of cattle continues across the state. A syndicate is reportedly operating under the leadership of certain individuals. On National Highway 17 in Balajan, Gauripur, police conducted a raid on a suspicious vehicle bearing registration number AS 26 AC 0754. During the operation, police seized 30 cattle. The truck carrying the cattle was en route from the neighboring state of West Bengal to Gauripur in Dhubri district. The cattle were being transported in a concealed manner inside cartons labeled for mangoes. Police arrested four people involved, including the driver. The arrested individuals have been identified as Abul Kashem, Minarul Islam (residents of Kalgachia), and Sahidul Islam and Ziyabar Rahman (residents of Barpeta Road). Though the Gauripur police are continuing their investigation, it remains to be seen what action the state police administration will take against the main mastermind behind this cattle smuggling syndicate.
