BPF stages huge rally in Bhowraguri, launches development projects

Sayed Ali, Gossaigaon: Challenging the ruling party and beating the election drum ahead of the forthcoming BTC elections, the Bodoland People’s Front, BPF today organized a massive rally in Bhowraguri. With the council polls in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) drawing closer, the BPF has intensified its campaign. Today’s grand rally at Bhowraguri, organized under the initiative of the Bhowraguri Primary Committee, marked a significant show of strength by the party in the Kachugaon constituency. The rally is being seen as a major challenge to the ruling party in the run-up to the elections. The people of Bhowraguri spontaneously came forward in support of BPF candidate Rabiram Narzary, who expressed his gratitude to everyone for the overwhelming response. Speaking on the occasion, Narzary alleged that despite being in power with tall promises of change, the ruling UPPL has failed to deliver on a single commitment. He further charged that the UPPL government has been exploiting the economy of BTR with false assurances over the past five years. Addressing the public meeting held in the premises of the Bhowraguri Bazaar Public Hall, Narzary slammed the council authorities for engaging outside contractors and allotting contracts worth crores of rupees, thereby crippling the region’s economy. He urged the people to once again bring the BPF back to power in order to rescue BTR from the present state of mismanagement. Thousands of people participated in the rally, which culminated in a meeting after a march through Gogei Bazaar. At the meeting, Narzary accused the UPPL of rampant corruption, including the collection of lakhs of rupees in the name of job appointments, even from their own party members. He alleged that while the ruling party talks about transparency, it is in fact running a corruption-ridden government and attempting to buy votes by announcing schemes. The meeting was also attended by office-bearers of the Gossaigaon District Committee, leaders of the Kachugaon Block Committee, and the Bhowraguri Primary Committee. Earlier in the day, Rabiram Narzary, MLA and BPF candidate for the Kachugaon constituency, laid the foundation stones of three development projects in Bhowraguri: An 8-lakh-rupee project for the construction of a boundary wall at Ma Tara Crematorium and the Radha Gobinda Temple premises at Baruapara, And another 8-lakh-rupee project for the construction of a guest house at the Harimandir’s Rajani Sevasram.
