Assam CM attends victory sankalp sabha in Satyapur

Staff Reporter, Gossaigaon: In a remarkable show of strength, the BJP’s Victory Sankalp Sabha held at Satyapur under 2 No. Guma BTC Constituency transformed into a sea of people, defying heavy rainfall. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, addressing the gathering, declared that the BJP is committed to replacing the corrupt Village Council Development Committee (VCDC) system and forming a strong BTC government from the Guma constituency. Highlighting the party’s peace-building efforts, Dr. Sarma recalled that the historic BTC Accord was signed in 2003 under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and later the BTR Accord under Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought lasting peace to the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). “Since the BJP formed governments at both the Centre and the State, not a single gunshot has been fired, no bomb blasts have occurred, and there have been no incidents of murder, kidnapping, extortion, or ethnic clashes in the BTR,” he said. The Chief Minister pledged to sustain this peaceful environment while eradicating rampant corruption in the VCDC system. “This arrangement has become a breeding ground for middlemen, forcing poor beneficiaries of welfare schemes such as Orunodoi, Awas Yojana, and Lakhpati Baideo to pay bribes. The BJP will take strict measures to end this system,” Dr. Sarma assured. He also reminded the public of the decades of hardship they endured, living as “second-class citizens” under threats and violence during elections. “Under the BJP, every citizen can now live with dignity as a first-class citizen,” he asserted, adding that the lotus will continue to bloom in Delhi, Dispur, and soon in the BTC as well. BJP District Secretary Anirban Das conducted the meeting, which senior party leader Ashok Singhal hailed as the largest rally ever in the BTC. Singhal stressed that only a self-reliant and self-respecting BJP, committed to permanent peace and development, can lead the BTC forward. He urged voters to reject divisive politics based on language, religion, or caste and to unite behind the BJP’s vision. Prominent leaders present included Guma Mandal, President Minati Bala Roy, MLA, and BJP General Secretary Dilip Ranjan Sharma, BTC Executive Member Arup Kumar Dey, KAC Executive Member Pradip Kumar Roy, caretaker Shailendra Roy, and President Gosai Basumatary. KAC Chief Executive Jivesh Roy, in his speech, said that the public turnout, despite adverse weather, was a clear sign of the BJP’s growing support in the BTC. “The people have come out with hope in their eyes and a desire for change, land rights, security, and development,” he noted. The programme also featured speeches by former Guma Constituency President Nileshwar Roy, while the welcome address was delivered by the BJP’s probable candidate for Guma BTC Constituency and Executive Member Sajal Kumar Singha.
