Staff Reporter, Guwahati: Marking World Music Day, Guwahati-based singer-songwriter Indrani Das, known by her stage name Indy, released her much-anticipated second original single, Disappear — a haunting and introspective track delving into themes of mental health, self-doubt, and emotional isolation. Rooted in alternative rock with strong emo influences, Disappear stands out for its raw honesty and emotional depth. The song, described as an attempt to vocalize the internal urge to escape overwhelming psychological battles, reflects a powerful and timely conversation around mental wellness, especially among the region’s emerging independent artists. Recorded at Lucid Recess Studio, Guwahati, the track was produced by Amitabh Barooa and mixed and mastered by Siddharth Barooa. Indy took the reins as writer, composer, and vocalist, continuing her journey as a solo artist following her 2024 debut single Sweet Wonder Years. The song is accompanied by a visually compelling music video, directed by Priyanka Sohoria and produced by Ekoda Productions. With Maaruf Bin Rafique as the cinematographer and editor, the video captures the silent emotional struggles of the protagonist, offering a rare portrayal of mental health themes in Guwahati’s indie music scene. Known also for her work with local bands InJoy and Stage Fright, Indy is quickly establishing herself as a bold and honest voice in Assam’s independent music landscape. With Disappear, she not only deepens her artistic expression but also invites dialogue on issues often left unspoken.
