Selim SK, Dhubri: A targeted operation by the Dhubri Forest Division successfully busted an illegal timber mill in Gauripur’s Dhorarghat area today. Led by Range Officer Safiqul Rahman, the forest department team seized a timber-cutting machine along with a substantial stock of valuable tree logs. The raid followed longstanding reports of unlawful tree felling and timber processing at the site. Acting on these allegations, the special team conducted the raid early this morning, dismantling the illegal setup. All confiscated machinery and logs have been secured at the Gauripur Range Forest Office for further investigation and legal proceedings. This action forms part of an ongoing campaign by the forest department to clamp down on unauthorized timber mills operating in the Dhubri district. Officials have issued a stern warning that similar illegal operations will be identified and shut down promptly. The department also appealed to local communities to assist in protecting forests by reporting any illegal activities related to timber harvesting.
