Govt to Launch ₹3,000 FASTag-Based Annual Pass from August 15

New Delhi: In a major move to streamline highway travel and reduce congestion at toll plazas, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced on Wednesday that the government will roll out a FASTag-based annual pass for private vehicles starting August 15, 2025. Priced at ₹3,000, the pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips—whichever comes first. It will be applicable exclusively to non-commercial private vehicles, including cars, jeeps, and vans. Sharing the announcement on social media platform X, Gadkari said the initiative addresses long-standing grievances about toll booths located within a 60-kilometre radius and offers a simplified, one-time payment solution. A dedicated link for activation and renewal of the pass will be made available through the Rajmarg Yatra App, as well as the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). “The annual pass will help reduce waiting time, ease traffic congestion, and minimise disputes at toll plazas,” Gadkari said, calling it a step forward in making highway travel faster, smoother, and more user-friendly for millions of private vehicle owners.
